I've been drawing and painting since the age of four when my first major work, 'The Racehorse', received critical acclaim from my parents. I decided then, that maybe I would be an artist.
Since that tender age, I've worked as a scenery painter and muralist but in the last 15 years I've been working on a much smaller scale as befits my surroundings, in the garden shed.
I work in oils, acrylics, watercolours and pen and ink but my preferred medium is gouache. My influences over the years include Pre Raphaelite works, Alan Lee, Patrick Woodroffe, Una Woodruff and Kit Williams, to name but a few.
I often exhibit with Julia Christie who has been my teacher and friend for many years. Details of exhibitions, if there are any currently, can be found here.
Some of my clients include:
The Global Bee Project
The National
Trust
The Crown and Sceptre, Stroud
Network Continuum Education
Folens Educational
Publishing
Leicestershire Museums
Coeys
ASSAP – The Association for the Scientific
Study of Anomalous Phenomena
Nowadays, I specialise in detailed illustration of natural subjects and my artwork tends to reflect my ideas about the natural and the mythical aspects of the world around us. My aim is to encourage people to 'look a bit closer'.
